The Havens Festival Week 2009

The launch of the Havens Festival.

Throwing a potThe Festival in Little Haven 2009 saw much activity at the Village Hall: Tower Hill Artists opened their annual Exhibition and Sale of Paintings every day but also hosted demonstrations by visiting craftspeople: lace making, card making, lino-cutting, making textile gifts, creative embroidery, basketry, willow lobster pot making, photo scrap-booking and the incredibly popular hands-on throwing a pot on the potter's wheel.

Evening sessions at the Hall included Storytelling - Myths, Legends and Ghosts, an illustrated talk on Coracles and a cookery demonstration. Jenny Lidstone signed the first copies of her new "Susan's Secrets" - a Pembrokeshire cookery book with a Little Haven connection.

Master Chefblessing boatsThere was a Blessing of the Boats Service on the slipway in Little Haven; Captain Morgan's Cafe introduced Pirates and Buccaneers Week whilst the History Group staged a small Exhibition at Haven Court and a "show and tell" trip was jointly arranged by the local fishing boat and diving instructors.

Fishing BoatOver in Broad Haven the Baptist Chapel held a morning service on the beach followed by a Barbeque; the Youth Hostel organised a Car Boot Sale, several "Big Cook, Little Cook" events and a Sand Sculpture Competition. Bank Holiday Monday saw many exhausted young people survive a Rugby Master Class on the beach with Peter Morgan and his International Rugby friends. There was a Mini Beast Safari, a talk on wild flowers and a family Film Night at the Field Study Centre.
